Hello my dear friends, so I have some exciting news for you! I am going to be hosting a couple of workshops this summer at the rather fabulous Howbury Farm Flowers in Renhold, Bedfordshire.
The first one is an Instagram class where we will spend a morning at the walled garden on Monday the 5th of July. We will start with a walking tour/lesson around the cut flower beds where I will share my tips on how to post on Instagram and create a cohesive gallery to be proud of. I’ll be answering any questions you may have about the app and on blogging. A demonstration will follow on how I style flowers as a flat lay and portrait scene and how I take photographs using just my phone. I’ll talk about backdrops, light and editing apps that make the most of your images. You will then get to pick flowers from the garden which you can style and photograph. It will be a really hands on class where you can just get stuck in! The walled garden really is a feast for the eyes and there are many wonderful photo opportunities. This will be a small class of no more than eight people and will be a lovely way to spend a morning. Tea and cake will also be provided. The second one is How to build a floristry portfolio which is being held on August the 10th and is a full day. Spaces are limited to just four people. Explore your personality as a florist. This is going to be a highly creative day and we will start with a tour of the walled garden where I will encourage you to start snapping pictures on your phone of flowers and colours you are naturally drawn to. We’ll talk about phone photography and cameras, lighting, styling and editing photos in Lightroom to get high quality images for your gallery. You will get to choose and select cut flowers and spend time styling with my help and creating vignettes of work that you can use in your portfolio. I’ll teach you how to tell a compelling story of your business through your work to attract your right customers. Lunch from the estate will also be provided.
