Winter hellebores from the cutting garden

Hello dear friends,

Just sharing some hellebores I picked this morning which I’ve popped into our peacock vase. I think they look rather charming don’t you.

Have a fabulous weekend!

    Hi Emma
Hellebores are my very favourite flower but they always wilt when I pick them. Any tips to keep them looking fresh?

      Hi Sally,
They are one of mine too!
The best thing to do is wait for the flowers on the plant to fully open, don’t pick them too young. The longer they are on the plant the tougher they become and this is when you want to pick them. Choose thick stems and cut close to the base, pop immediately in tepid water. Some people recommend searing the ends but I’ve never needed to.
      Good luck!
Let me know how you get on.
      Emma
