Picking wild flowers at Hitchin Lavender

Hello my flower loving friends,

My daughter Lilly and I enjoyed a day at Hitchin Lavender fields last weekend where picked not just lavender but beautiful bunches of wild flowers. I never pick wild flowers when I’m foraging, just foliage and berries so it was a real treat to be able to gather these gorgeous blooms and know we’re still leaving plenty for the bees and other wild life.

Lilly kept to a very muted palette of purples, dusky pinks and cream for her posy, whilst I added in touches of gold grasses and the tiniest hint of yellow.

A day picking Lavender & wild flowers costs £6.00 for adults and £3.00 for under 14s, there’s also a tea room and they sell lavender ice cream which of course we had to sample!

They run an open air cinema in the summer which I think would be really cool, I may have to go back for a family night out and pack a picnic.

A few weeks back we visited Cotswold lavender but I have to say I think Hitchin just tops it. Do you know of any amazing flower fields that are open to the public? Let me know either here or on Instagram.

P.S Lilly now has her own IG you can find her @justlillymae
