Container planting gives another level of texture and interest to the garden and I love the way you can move them around. I even put them in my flower beds if I see a temporary space that needs filling quickly.
A gorgeous looking planter can always have the right place, think ferns and foxgloves for areas with shade and beautiful perennial salvias and herbs for full on sun. Container planting is no longer just about bedding plants and quick colour. Think about how you can continue the interest year round.
I’ve used an evergreen rock rose here for year round colour, the white salvia will keep going all summer, just keep dead heading. And the grass will give beautiful movement till it needs cutting back in late winter.
And if you don’t fancy having a go yourself, you can find my planted containers for sale at Minchin and May in Woburn, Bedfordshire.
