Foraging for foliage

Foraging for foliage is probably the most enjoyable part of my job.

Don’t get me wrong I love being on my flower plot, sowing seeds and making up floral creations, but I love how connected to nature I feel whilst out foraging in the hedgerows.

It grounds you to the seasons in a way that nothing else could, just getting out there come rain or shine and seeing what’s on offer is incredibly good for the mind and body, plus I really feel it helps with appreciating the littlest things.

I love creating arrangements purely from foraged foliage with not a single flower added.

It’s a way of bringing nature into the home, not to mention it’s interesting to watch.

My favourites this Autumn are sloe branches and rose hips (if you can get over the thorns, I always carry gloves).

I’ve got a wedding on this weekend so I’ll be using little bits of these mixed in with my dahlias.

I’ll try to remember to take some pics.

Enjoy the rest of your week.

Emma.
